Advanced Open Water PADI "Gold"
Improve your diving skills and discover new underwater adventures with our Advanced Open Water GOLD course.
Over 3 days, you will build your confidence and develop your diving skills, allowing you to extend your dive times and discover deeper sites. In addition to the Advanced course, you will learn to dive with Enriched air (Nitrox), and leave this course with certification.
This complete package includes online learning materials, diving equipment, 5 adventure dives (including 2 Nitrox), an exploration dive and Nitrox theory. As well as 2 certifications = ADVANCED DIVER PADI and NITROX DIVER PADI
This course features two mandatory dives: DEEP and NAVIGATION. After completing these, you can choose from a variety of other adventure dives based on your interests, including:
- Wreck Diving
- Drift Diving
- Night Diving
- Peak Performance Buoyancy
- Fish Identification
- Underwater Naturalist
- Search and Recovery Diver
This flexibility allows you to tailor your experience to suit your diving goals. Completing this course enables you to dive autonomously (with a buddy of equivalent or higher level) up to 30 meters deep, opening the door to explore the wonders of the marine world. Plus, all dives will be conducted in some of the most beautiful sites in Playa del Carmen!
Pre-requisities :
- Be a PADI (Jr.) Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
- Be 12 years old for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver, and 15 years old for Advanced Open Water Diver.
- Fill out our PADI Medical Questionnaire. This form is to find out if you should be examined by your doctor before participating in recreational diver training. If any of the items in the Medical Questionnaire apply to you, you must consult a physician prior to participating in scuba diving.
What will I learn ?
The knowledge and skills you get in the Advanced Open Water Diver course vary with your interest and the adventures you have, but include:
Deep Dive :
- Practical aspects of deep diving.
- Physiological effects of deeper scuba diving.
- How to better use your dive computer and electronic Recreational Dive Planner (eRDP)
Underwater Navigation :
- Improve your abilities to use an underwater compass.
- How to navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.
Nitrox
- Understanding of the benefits of diving with enriched air.
- Learning how to plan Nitrox dives.
The rest is up to you to choose among all the PADI adventure dives available in our center. (Obviously we do not offer ice diving…)

Program and Schedule
Day 1 : 2 afternoon dives on the reef of Playa de Carmen (meet at 11:45 a.m.)
Day 2 : 2 morning dives on the reef of Playa de Carmen (meet at 7:45 a.m.)
- Nitrox theory in the afternoon (meet at 2 p.m.)
Day 3 : 2 morning Nitrox dives on the reef of Playa de Carmen (meet at 8:00 a.m.)

Driver & Tankero
Omar Molina, originally from La Venta, Tabasco, assisting with dive equipment maintenance, store support, and customer transportation. Always with a smile, he strives to provide a comfortable and safe experience for every visitor. Passionate about video games and sports, he enjoys the dynamic environment at Dune. He dreams of becoming a dive instructor or a tour driver and learns something new every day to get closer to his goal.
Killian
Instructor
Killian is from Bordeaux, France, where it’s too cold to work during the winter. After a couple of months in Playa del Carmen, he’s enjoying the warm weather and the lively diving scene. With 4 years of experience as an instructor, he’s also a lifeguard and has studied English literature. A CMAS, PADI, and SSI instructor, Killian loves exploring rocks and cenotes. He speaks English, French, and is learning Spanish to better connect with the local community and divers.
Vicente
Capitan de la Lady Claire
Vicente, our boat captain, is much more than just a sailor: he’s the true guardian of the oceans! With a smile as wide as the horizon and humor as refreshing as a sea breeze, he watches over our vessels with the discipline of a captain. When he's not navigating through the waves, he reminds us that the oceans aren’t trash bins and that even a small action matters in protecting them. In short, with Vicente at the helm, we feel safe, but always ready to laugh and discover the wonders of the sea!

On-site exploration
Barracuda
The barracuda is impressive in that it sometimes stays still and waits for prey to approach during its hunting trips! With the adult measuring 80 cm in length on average, its streamlined silhouette and strong jaws make it clearly identifiable.
Moray eel
A snakelike fish, the moray eel is a shy creature that does not completely show itself. Hidden away in rocks and corals and with a body measuring up to 3 metres in length, it is only very rarely seen. From between the rocky walls, it lashes out to attack its prey at lightning speed, trapping it between its serrated jaws.
Lobster
Lobsters are fascinating crustaceans often spotted on night dives, hiding in crevices along coral reefs. Known for their long antennae and vibrant coloring, these creatures are skilled at navigating the reef’s rocky terrain. Observing a lobster’s graceful movements and unique features is always a memorable experience underwater.
