Advanced Open Water PADI Certification Silver Course in Cozumel
Ready to take your diving skills further? The Advanced Open Water PADI Certification – Silver course with DUNE Mexico helps you build confidence, refine your underwater techniques, and explore more of Cozumel’s spectacular dive sites.
Over three days, you’ll complete five adventure dives and one fun dive, with PADI e-learning and scuba equipment included. This course gives you the opportunity to develop practical skills while discovering the vibrant marine life and underwater landscapes that make Cozumel a memorable diving destination.
What’s Included in the Silver Course?
Your training begins with two mandatory adventure dives:
- Deep Diving: Explore the practical aspects of deeper diving, understand its physiological effects, and learn to use your dive computer more effectively.
- Underwater Navigation: Improve your compass skills and practise navigating with kick cycles, visual landmarks, and time.
After completing these dives, you can choose additional adventures based on your interests and goals. Available options may include:
- Wreck Diving
- Drift Diving
- Night Diving
- Peak Performance Buoyancy
- Fish Identification
- Underwater Naturalist
- Search and Recovery
This flexibility lets you tailor your Advanced Open Water PADI Certification experience to the skills you want to develop. With Cozumel’s beautiful reefs and diverse underwater scenery, every dive offers something new to explore.
Prerequisites
To participate in the course, you must:
- Hold a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent qualification from a recognized training organization.
- Be at least 12 years old for the Junior Advanced Open Water Diver course, or 15 years old for the standard Advanced Open Water Diver course.
- Complete the PADI medical questionnaire. If your answers indicate that medical clearance is required, you must consult a physician before starting training.
What Will You Learn?
Your learning experience depends partly on the adventure dives you choose. Core skills include:
Deep Diving
- Understand the practical considerations of deep diving.
- Learn about the physiological effects of diving deeper.
- Improve your use of a dive computer.
Underwater Navigation
- Develop your underwater compass skills.
- Practise navigation using kick cycles, visual landmarks, and time.

Program and Schedule :
Day 1 :
- Meeting time: 1h30 pm
- Administrative formalities and equipment adjustment.
- First 2 dives from shore: Navigation and buoyancy check.
Day 2 :
- Meeting time: 8:45 am
- Deep dive
- Drift Dive
Exploration of Cozumel's magnificent marine park.
Day 3 :
- Meeting time: 8h45
- Last adventure dive to obtain certification of your choice: Fish ID , wreck
- Additional fun dive by boat in the Cozumel Marine Park.

Barracuda
The barracuda is impressive in that it sometimes stays still and waits for prey to approach during its hunting trips! With the adult measuring 80 cm in length on average, its streamlined silhouette and strong jaws make it clearly identifiable.
Moray eel
A snakelike fish, the moray eel is a shy creature that does not completely show itself. Hidden away in rocks and corals and with a body measuring up to 3 metres in length, it is only very rarely seen. From between the rocky walls, it lashes out to attack its prey at lightning speed, trapping it between its serrated jaws.
Octopus
The octopus is unmistakable and cannot be confused with any other ocean-swelling animal. Its eight tentacles lined with suction cups allow it to move smoothly and seek refuge if danger arises. Like a chameleon, it will readily change colour to blend in with the background!
