Explore Playa del Carmen’s Reefs
Playa del Carmen’s reefs are home to colorful corals, tropical fish, sea turtles, and stingrays. Across six dives, you can explore different underwater landscapes, from shallower reefs to deeper sites and drift dives when conditions allow.
Our dive team selects the sites according to sea conditions, visibility, currents, and your diving experience, helping you enjoy dives suited to your level.
Discover the Mama Viña Wreck
For a different underwater adventure, the Mama Viña wreck offers the opportunity to explore a sunken shrimp boat that has become an artificial reef. Schools of fish and barracudas may be seen around the wreck, and eagle rays may occasionally pass through the area.
The wreck is known for its currents and distinctive structure, making it an exciting option for suitably qualified and experienced divers. Access depends on sea conditions and the dive team’s assessment.
Three Days of Underwater Discovery
This dive package in Mexico gives you three days to experience Playa del Carmen’s underwater world at a relaxed pace. Enjoy a variety of dive sites, build confidence in the water, and discover the rich marine life of the Mexican Caribbean with DUNE Mexico.
Program and Schedule
This 3-day dive package offers flexibility while ensuring you experience the best of Playa del Carmen’s dive sites. Each day includes two dives, with the option to explore shallow or deep reefs depending on your experience level.
Daily Dive Schedule:
Morning Dives:
Meeting time: 7:45 AM at Dune Dive Center
- Depart for two boat dives on the reefs of Playa del Carmen
- Enjoy fresh fruits and water between dives
- Return to the dive center around 12:00 PM
Afternoon Dives: (Optional if you prefer diving later in the day or more shallow dives)
Meeting time: 12:00 PM at Dune Dive Center
- Head out for two boat dives with diverse marine life
- Enjoy fresh fruits and water between dives
- Return to the dive center around 3:00 PM
Throughout the three days, dive sites will be selected based on conditions and diver experience, with opportunities for deep dives, drift dives, and even the Mama Viña wreck for those who want to explore a sunken shrimp boat.

Bersabeth Pérez Vázquez, from Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, has been living in Playa del Carmen for two years. A nature and animal lover, she is passionate about protecting their rights and enjoys traveling and walking along the beach. She dreams of becoming a nurse to help others. Her positive energy and love for the ocean make her a wonderful presence.

Instructor
Killian is from Bordeaux, France, where it’s too cold to work during the winter. After a couple of months in Playa del Carmen, he’s enjoying the warm weather and the lively diving scene. With 4 years of experience as an instructor, he’s also a lifeguard and has studied English literature. A CMAS, PADI, and SSI instructor, Killian loves exploring rocks and cenotes. He speaks English, French, and is learning Spanish to better connect with the local community and divers.

Cenote Guide & Instructor
Diane, originally from France, completed her IDC at Dune Playa del Carmen in 2021. A passionate diver since the age of 16, she fell in love with the cenotes and Caribbean life. As a cenote guide and PADI instructor, Diane shares her love for the ocean and the unique treasures of the Yucatán. Caring and considerate, she provides special attention to each diver, making every experience unforgettable.

Box Fish
The boxfish is a uniquely shaped fish with a boxy, armored body covered in hexagonal plates. Often found near coral reefs, they are slow swimmers but fascinating to watch as they hover and forage for food. With their vibrant colors and gentle nature, boxfish are a captivating addition to any underwater encounter.
Angel Fish
Angelfish are vibrant, colorful reef fish known for their striking patterns and graceful swimming. Often found in warm, tropical waters, they inhabit coral reefs, where they feed on algae and small invertebrates. With their unique shapes and lively colors, angelfish are a delight to encounter while diving or snorkeling.
Eagle Ray
The eagle ray is a graceful, spotted marine ray known for its long wingspan and distinct, leopard-like spots. Often seen gliding through tropical waters, these rays are powerful swimmers, capable of making impressive leaps above the water. They feed mainly on mollusks and crustaceans, using their strong jaws to crush shells, and are a mesmerizing sight for divers.
