Choose the eLearning option and study from home. You will start directly with the pool and the next day you will be a certified diver! PADI offers a variety of home study materials for the Open Water Diver course. You can study when and wherever you want and arrive to our diving center ready to start the training. PADI’s Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures. For each concept you’ll read a description and watch a video demonstration. Then you’ll jump in the pool or pool like environment to practice these skills with your instructor. Later, as a certified diver, use the course materials as a reference guide for future diving adventures and to review what you learned.

All the equipment you will need is included in your course. You’ll use all the basic scuba gear including a mask, snorkel and fins, a buoyancy compensating device BCD that also carries your scuba tank, a scuba regulator to breathe from, a weight system, a wetsuit, and instrumentation to monitor depth and air supply.

Program and Schedule :

PADI Open Water Diver with e-Learning: 3 DAYS.

The first day, we meet you at our dive center at 8:00 am, and you will do the exercises from the 5 chapters in this pool session.
On the second day, you will do the open water dives 1 and 2 in the afternoon in Playa del Carmen. Meeting at 12:00pm at the dive center to get everything ready.
On day 3, start in the morning with open water dives 3 and 4 in Cozumel marine park! You will need to take the 8am ferry from Playa del Carmen or meet us at the dive center in Cozumel at 9am.

Omar Molina, originally from La Venta, Tabasco, assisting with dive equipment maintenance, store support, and customer transportation. Always with a smile, he strives to provide a comfortable and safe experience for every visitor. Passionate about video games and sports, he enjoys the dynamic environment at Dune. He dreams of becoming a dive instructor or a tour driver and learns something new every day to get closer to his goal.

Killian

Instructor

Killian is from Bordeaux, France, where it’s too cold to work during the winter. After a couple of months in Playa del Carmen, he’s enjoying the warm weather and the lively diving scene. With 4 years of experience as an instructor, he’s also a lifeguard and has studied English literature. A CMAS, PADI, and SSI instructor, Killian loves exploring rocks and cenotes. He speaks English, French, and is learning Spanish to better connect with the local community and divers.

Lucio

Instructor

Lucio Velasco Tadeo, originally from Oaxaca, has lived in Playa del Carmen for 19 years. He is a Catamaran Instructor and Windsurf Instructor, and started diving in 2004, becoming a certified instructor in 2009. In addition to his passion for water sports, he is a certified lifeguard and speaks some German and English. His dedication and experience in the water make him an excellent guide for those looking to explore the sea safely and enjoyably.

Vicente, our boat captain, is much more than just a sailor: he’s the true guardian of the oceans! With a smile as wide as the horizon and humor as refreshing as a sea breeze, he watches over our vessels with the discipline of a captain. When he's not navigating through the waves, he reminds us that the oceans aren’t trash bins and that even a small action matters in protecting them. In short, with Vicente at the helm, we feel safe, but always ready to laugh and discover the wonders of the sea!

Director General Dune Mexico

Camille Laquerrière has been passionate about the ocean since childhood and serves as the General Manager and Course Director of Dune Mexico Blue Dream. With over 20 years of experience as a diving instructor in the Riviera Maya, he has certified more than 5,500 divers, including over 1,500 PADI professionals. In 2008, he became a Course Director, reinforcing his commitment to quality dive training. Since 2018, Camille has been part of Dune Mexico as a Course Director and technical diving trainer, before taking over as General Manager in July 2020. Beyond diving, he is also passionate about travel and wildlife photography, constantly seeking to capture the beauty of the natural world. His dedication to excellence and love for diving make Camille an invaluable asset to our center, ensuring unforgettable underwater experiences for our clients.

Box Fish

The boxfish is a uniquely shaped fish with a boxy, armored body covered in hexagonal plates. Often found near coral reefs, they are slow swimmers but fascinating to watch as they hover and forage for food. With their vibrant colors and gentle nature, boxfish are a captivating addition to any underwater encounter.

Lobster

Lobsters are fascinating crustaceans often spotted on night dives, hiding in crevices along coral reefs. Known for their long antennae and vibrant coloring, these creatures are skilled at navigating the reef’s rocky terrain. Observing a lobster’s graceful movements and unique features is always a memorable experience underwater.

Moray eel

A snakelike fish, the moray eel is a shy creature that does not completely show itself. Hidden away in rocks and corals and with a body measuring up to 3 metres in length, it is only very rarely seen. From between the rocky walls, it lashes out to attack its prey at lightning speed, trapping it between its serrated jaws.

Stingray

Stingrays are graceful, flat-bodied fish commonly found gliding along sandy bottoms in warm coastal waters. Known for their distinctive shape and long, slender tails, they are generally gentle creatures that pose little threat to humans. Often seen during dives, stingrays can be mesmerizing as they effortlessly navigate the ocean floor, searching for food like mollusks and crustaceans.
